Trump Administration Commits $186 Million to Rural Idaho Healthcare

The Trump administration announced Tuesday that rural Idaho will receive nearly $186 million through the Rural Health Transformation Program.

Idaho committed its full fiscal year 2026 allocation to improvements in rural healthcare access. The funding will support local care delivery, updated technology, new care and payment models, workforce expansion, and facility improvements.

The program lists five focus areas: building the rural healthcare workforce, strengthening facilities and access, advancing care and payment models, expanding community-based and preventive care, and modernizing healthcare technology.

The investment was enabled by the Working Families Tax Cuts Act, which provides $50 billion to help states transform healthcare delivery.

Gov. Brad Little said affordable and accessible healthcare remains a concern for many Idaho families, particularly those in rural areas.

U.S. Sen. Mike Crapo said additional funding will be available in the coming years and that the program will increase access to healthcare across Idaho. U.S. Rep. Mike Simpson described the initiative as the largest investment in rural healthcare in American history.
