Shoshone Medical Center Partners with Kootenai Imaging to Boost Silver Valley Diagnostics

Shoshone Medical Center in Kellogg has entered a new partnership with Kootenai Imaging to enhance diagnostic services for residents of Shoshone County, according to reporting from cdapress.com.

SMC CEO Shane Sanborn announced the collaboration on Wednesday. The agreement integrates SMC’s existing imaging facilities with the radiology expertise of Kootenai Imaging staff. Officials say the move is designed to improve both the efficiency and accuracy of diagnostic interpretations.

Kootenai Imaging, a joint venture with Kootenai Health, is known for offering some of the quickest turnaround times for diagnostic results in the region. By combining resources, the partnership aims to deliver faster, higher-quality care to Silver Valley patients without requiring them to travel outside the area.

“Our goal is simple: to provide our patients with the highest quality care possible, right here in the Silver Valley,” Sanborn told the Coeur d’Alene Press.

Scott Venera, a practice administrator at Kootenai Imaging, emphasized the operational benefits of the arrangement. “We are excited to become part of the Shoshone Medical Center team and look forward to helping the community by providing quality medical imaging in a timely manner,” Venera said.

This diagnostic expansion follows a broader period of growth for SMC. The Kellogg-based facility recently announced expanded behavioral health and substance abuse treatment services. Additionally, SMC reported increases in patient volume for wound care, cardiac rehabilitation, pulmonary rehabilitation, and endoscopy procedures.

The partnership reflects a trend of regional healthcare consolidation aimed at maintaining local service capabilities while leveraging specialized expertise from larger systems. For Idaho residents seeking reliable medical infrastructure, such collaborations help sustain essential services in rural markets like Shoshone County.
