Shawn Wehr has been sworn in as Shoshone County’s interim sheriff, taking over leadership of the county’s law enforcement operations.
The sheriff’s office in Shoshone County handles law enforcement across the Silver Valley, covering the unincorporated areas between Kellogg, Wallace, Osburn, Mullan, and Pinehurst, and providing support to smaller municipal departments throughout the county.
The interim appointment fills the vacancy until the position is decided in the regular election cycle. Shoshone County voters will have the opportunity to weigh in on the sheriff’s office in the 2026 elections, with the statewide primary set for May 19.
