Silver Valley Athletes Shine Across Softball, Track, and Golf in Idaho’s Shoshone County
Kellogg Wildcats Sweep Grangeville in Central Idaho League Softball Series
It was a dominant week on the diamond for the Kellogg High School softball program, as the Wildcats swept the Grangeville Bulldogs across three games played April 23 and 24 at Kellogg Middle School in the Central Idaho League. The sweep vaulted Kellogg into second place in the league standings.
In the series opener on April 23, the Wildcats defeated the Bulldogs 8–5, handing Grangeville its first league loss of the season. Sarah Gloyn delivered a key two-run single in the third inning, while pitcher Joci Lee struck out 12 batters to pace the Kellogg effort. The Wildcats scored three runs in the first inning and three more in the fifth to hold off Grangeville’s midgame surge.
April 24 brought more of the same from Kellogg, as the Wildcats swept a doubleheader against the Bulldogs by scores of 17–2 and 10–6. In game one, Kellogg invoked the 10-run rule with a 17-run performance, with Gloyn driving in three runs to lead the offensive onslaught. The second game featured a standout individual performance from Lee, who struck out 15 batters and added two hits at the plate. Bella Schillereff also went 4-for-4 across the day. For Grangeville, Caryss Barger provided a bright spot with a solo home run, a 3-for-4 showing, and three RBIs in the nightcap. Kellogg closes its regular season with a road game at Timberlake.
